The John Hempenstall Memorial Gala

As a result of the hard work and dedication that John Hempenstall committed to CoStA over very many years, we are dedicating the Under 10 Progress Gala to his memory and it will now be known as "The John Hempenstall Memorial Gala for the Under 10's"

In addition to the usual medals and trophies given out at this event there will be an  additional trophy "The John Hempenstall" trophy which will be presented to the "swimmer that shows the most commitment". This is to reflect John's own tireless commitment that he gave to the Club over very many years.

Here a couple of comments that have been made about John.

"John was a friendly face at the Club and always helpful...... he will of course be missed but I will always smile when I think of him"

"I found that in everything that John did he was dedicated and he had endless ideas and a positivity that was refreshing...... I will miss his support, passion and dedication to CoSta and also his knowledge of sweets I did and did not like when he put them together in my weekly sweets bag!"
